The room heats up faster? Then the boiler must consume more energy
That's what you'd think, Kim van Dijk from Utrecht. Yet that turns out not to be the case. We are happy to explain. With the help of a bucket.
A bucket? Tell me about it. Suppose you fill a bucket with water from the tap. And you turn the tap on a little harder. Then the bucket fills up faster. But you don't suddenly need more water. That's how it works with the central heating boiler too.
That sounds plausible. Now for the version with the central heating boiler and the heat in the room.
Central heating boiler can take it easier sooner
With the help of the SpeedComfort, the room reaches temperature faster, because the fans speed up the circulation of warm air. A central heating boiler reacts to the room temperature, which is indicated on the thermostat. When the room is warm enough, the boiler takes it easier. That can happen sooner than without SpeedComfort. The central heating boiler does run a little harder during the start-up phase, but for a much shorter time. On balance, more energy is not needed, but rather less.
Cold return flow, higher efficiency
You will notice that the radiator therefore feels a little cooler sooner. That is a good sign, because that means that the heat from the radiator is well transferred to the air. And you would rather have a warm room than a warm radiator. Moreover, it is better for a central heating boiler, especially for a condensing boiler, if the return flow of the water is colder. Then the efficiency is higher. Another advantage.
