The Dutch are turning their thermostats down. But how do they stay comfortably warm?
At SpeedComfort, we naturally keep a close eye on how people are dealing with heating and energy costs. How are households using their heating? What concerns do they have about their energy bills? And what are they doing to keep their homes comfortably warm?
That’s why a recent survey by the Hart van Nederland Panel caught our attention. Hart van Nederland is a well-known Dutch TV news programme. The survey shows that more and more people in the Netherlands are turning down their thermostats, while almost half are worried about heating costs this winter. That’s significant. After all, we all want to save energy, but nobody wants to sit in a cold home.
Smarter heating: fortunately, there are plenty of options
From weatherstripping and radiator foil to better insulation and using the thermostat more smartly: there are all kinds of ways to keep your home comfortable while saving energy at the same time. Some solutions require a significant investment, while others are very easy to implement. And naturally, radiator fans are one of them.
You probably already knew that SpeedComforts can contribute to a lower energy bill and more comfort when you turn your thermostat down a bit. But we still enjoy reading that radiator fans are mentioned as a money-saving tip in the Hart van Nederland article, too. And we are secretly quite proud of that.
A degree lower does not have to be less comfortable
What we especially like about reports like this is that they show how conscious the Dutch have become about their energy consumption. Because saving energy does not always have to mean that you need to make major changes to your home. Sometimes it is all about a combination of small, smart choices. And if we can contribute to that with SpeedComfort, we naturally think that is a bonus.
